Old Hollywood Glam
I wanted to give you guys the heads up that I have had a talk with my Boss. I asked her if I could have all of next week off. That’s right, I won’t be doing any posts until after Christmas. I hope you enjoy today’s post.
I just finished reading a very interesting article in Vanity Fair Magazine. It was the July 2013 issue with some ugly guy on the cover – see below.
Is he hot or what! Okay so in this magazine was an article/mini biography about the life and times of Ava Gardner. What a great story. This woman lived a full life. Besides the fact that she was married 3 times, First to Mickey Rooney, then Artie Shaw and finally Frank Sinatra, she was a Hollywood starlet who was besties with Lana Turner.
Apparently when Ava was married to Frank Sinatra, they made a vow that they would NEVER do any tell all books. When Frank’s career hit an all time low and he was broke as hell, he was approached by a big magazine that would pay him tons of money to do an autobiography. He declined.
Years later in 1972 I guess Ava decided to hell with it, and decided to work with Peter Evans to do a ghosted autobiography. Frank got wind of it and sued Peter and the BBC for mentioning his name associated with mob ties.
What I really admire about Ava was that she was very candid in this interview with Peter about all the details. Apparently Frank was an amazing lover. Uh, that doesn’t surprise me. She went on to say that Mickey Rooney was a favorite with all the ladies because he had a big (oh my gosh Ava) I can’t believe you honey. I mean she really spills the beans you guys. I don’t know about you, but these are what make autobiographies interesting to me. I mean if you have lived life to the fullest and want to tell about it, then tell ALL of it.
Whatever. I love to read and if I’m not reading personal development books, I like to read about people’s lives. Fascinating, I guess.
Oh, if your interested…this article was an excerpt from the book that was released this summer called “Ava Gardner: The Secret Conversations” by Peter Evans and Ava Gardner
What a story. I want to get this book at the library and read it. If you want to know more, let me know.
Now, on to the fashion….
I found this Ralph Lauren laced sheath dress at Marshall’s. It’s very conservative for me, but yet a little glam too. Maybe cause I’m in it – Hahahaha. Not kidding
Big Hugs and thanks for reading!
