I hope you are having a great week so far. I have been traveling quite a bit this past week and so now its time to play catch up on my life and everything in it.
A GYM state of mind
Today I was invited back to my old gym to workout with my Trainer Charles. We actually took a RPM class that a mutual friend of ours Erica Marsh was teaching. She gave me the warmest greeting and heartfelt hug. The people at my gym become my second family because I see them almost every day. I’ve since switched gyms because I needed to be closer to my home. But I miss my friendships there.
Back to what this post is about….
For those of you who don’t know, a RPM class is kind of similar to a Spin class where you sit on a stationary bike and the Instructor takes you through the mountains – in a dark room, where the fans are blowing and the music is pumping. Its a party people, let me tell you.
She screams at you that you need to pick up the pace and to not to leave your teammates behind – Its crazy. But I like it. I always feel like I’ve lost a pound or two. As I was doing my warm up this morning, I started thinking about why I love working out so much. When I go to the gym, I lose all sense of whats important to me in the “Outside World”. I don’t care about the way I look, I don’t care about what people think, I don’t care about money, or getting ahead, I don’t care about relationships, or being important, I don’t care about having to be a good mom, or weather anyone loves me. I honestly go into a state where the only thing that matters is …..physical endurance. Mine.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying those things don’t matter. I’m saying they don’t matter right now. I go into such an intense focused state of pushing myself that I bypass all connection to mankind. Except of course, when someone is on the machine I want, or didn’t put their weights back properly. LOL. Gym Etiquette is very real guys. Respect it. Those of you who are regulars at the gym know what I’m talking about here.
Do you have or do something like this in your life? Something that makes you feel so good about yourself? Something that while your doing it, you can fall in love with yourself over and over? I think its actually healthy to have something like this in your life if you can. If you don’t, you should try some different things until you find something that you love.
Maybe its crocheting, or playing a sport. Maybe its reading, scrap booking or playing an instrument. I’d love to hear what you do!
Now, on to the outfit of the day…..
Today’s outfit makes the sun want to come out! Its full of color and energy which is how I feel.
