I hope you enjoyed your weekend. The weather was amazing! In between working on my fabulous closet project and helping my sister pack up her house, I managed to squeeze in a quick photo shoot. I love sharing with you not only the hot items that are trending right now, but also the fashion ideas I come up with. I love mixing patterns with prints, and textures with colors. I could talk about fashion all day.
Appreciating the differences of others
One of the reasons I love to travel is that it gives me a much broader perspective on life. I meet people from all walks of life, religious backgrounds and cultures. I have to tell you that even though we are all so different, we are still very much the same. Every person gets their feelings hurt at one time or another, everybody gets their heart broken at some point; children (no matter what culture) feel the sting of a parents criticism or judgement. It simply doesn’t matter what culture or ethnic background you come from, your credit card can be declined just like the next person.
That said, why do we have a hard time accepting other people’s cultures or religions that are different from our own?
I believe its fear. Fear of feeling threatened by that which you do not know or understand. From the cashier at Walmart, to the person taking your order at McDonald’s, everybody has a different pace and way of thinking. I’ve heard people say “that person should learn English if they want to be in this country”. Have you ever tried to learn a different language? Its NOT easy. Better yet, have you ever been to a different country and couldn’t speak the language so you walk around motioning and pointing, struggling for help from perfect strangers. I have. Its so frustrating! You just feel so stupid. In the end, you have a whole new appreciation for the foreigners who come here and muscle their way through the cultural and language barriers they face.
Learning to accept the differences of another person is a choice. Choose wisely because it could be you one day that is in a foreign land struggling to ask where the bathroom is. Treat every person who is different from you with the grace that you yourself would like to be greeted with if you were them. Just a thought.
Now, on to the fashion….
Today’s outfit is very reminiscent of a monochromatic look. I wanted to dress the way I felt today, which was relaxed and at ease with life.
Although the fabric colors are very muted and soft, I chose to pair sparkly accessories to brighten and add dimension to my outfit
Printed tee’s are trending big right now so I had no problem using this Bebe top as today’s focal point
These Miu Miu gold and rhinestone sandals are very versatile and complete the look
I hope you enjoyed today’s message and post. Until the next time, Dress Fierce, Be Creative and Inspire Someone.
Big hugs and thanks for reading.
