Happy Monday Girls!
Today I want to talk to you about a three letter word that sends most of us women in a twisted tailspin. AGE. That’s right, I said it. I was at an event not long ago and I was having a conversation with a group of what seemed to be very educated, successful and beautiful women. The subject came up about age and I noticed their tone changed, their shoulders shrank and they seemed to lose self confidence almost immediately. It wasn’t even a conversation about our ages, but the sting was still apparent. I think as we get older, we tend to feel like we are less of a commodity. Why is that? And how come men don’t put this same insecurity on their back?
NO! I thought to myself. Lets not do this to ourselves any longer. I met a woman 2 years ago that blew my mind. I was in Lake Tahoe in a casino and while I was waiting in line I met her. She was fabulously dressed. She wore heels and a matching bag. Her jewelry was on point. Not a hair out of place and her make up was perfectly done. The best part of the story – she was 105 years old! I almost passed out when she told me. I mean she was magnificent. Her name was Elsie and I was so taken aback by her fashion sense, her self confidence, her everything, that I asked if I could take a picture with her.
Here’s my point, we simply cannot stop the aging process. None of us can. However, we can keep ourselves up, dress nice, exercise and stay in shape, eat well and live life to the fullest. There is no excuse to walk around feeling inadequate just because we grew another year older. As far as I’m concerned, it beats the alternative – being dead! LOL
Now, on to the fashion…
Today, I felt cheerful. I felt loved. My daughter asked me if she could style me for today’s post. I agreed and this is what she came up with. I think she did an amazing job! This yellow tailored blazer by BCBG is the perfect introduction to spring. She paired it with the deep turquoise skinny jeans to anchor the look.
The Addiction T-shirt from BeBe (old) compliments the edgy, but sophisticated look she was going for.
Thank you Lauryn for helping mommy be my best today. I love you!
And girls remember this…its not how many breaths in life we take, its how many moments in life that take our breath away. Until the next time,
