Hello my little princesses!
This is day four of this wonderful year and I feel like I'm off to a good start. As you know from my previous posts, I want this to be an amazing year. I have taken the time to carefully write down all my goals, I have my mindset right, I am even doing my daily affirmations. I am staying away (far away) from negative people and I feel very driven to accomplish what I have set out to do.
I wanted to share with you a conversation I had with a friend today. We were talking about priorities and how you can have goals, thats fine, but you should also remember the important things in your life too. Things like spending more quality time with your kids or your family. Really connect with them. Turn off the cell phone, turn off the TV and just get into their world. Find out what are some of their favorite things, what movies do they like, what are their favorite foods? Little details like this are important to know. Because its the little things that make us who we are and its what makes us so different from one another.
I stopped for a moment to think about how we all work so hard to have the perfect life. We strive for everything in our world to be just right. And somehow it never is. Just when we have one area of our life all sorted out and we have painstakenly gone through all the motions to get things the way we want them to be, something else happens that puts us right back into a stressful state. Why is that?
I don't think life is ever going to stop throwing us curve balls. I don't. But I have found that the key to dealing with all the uncertainty in this world is to stop from time to time and just center yourself. Just be present in the moment. Look around you and notice the little things that make you happy. Is it the color of a flower, is it the shape of a building, is it a fabulous pair of shoes someone is wearing?
Here are couple of my favorite little things for today….
Last night I was surprised with a gift of a beautiful coffee cup (see below). On it, its says "World's best mom". The colors are bright and fun. I love it! It makes me happy. Yesterday, I bought myself some neon flowers. Thats right girls, bought them for myself. You know what…everytime I walk into my kitchen I smile at those flowers. They brighten my day. I hope when you see this picture they brighten your day too. Lastly, have you ever tasted a ranier cherry? Like me, they are sensitive to temperature, wind and rain. LOL Therefore they only surface for a couple months out of the entire year. Also they are about $5 per pound, ouch. But they are super sweet and yummy.
Remember, you don't have to wait for something HUGE to happen in your life to be happy. You can just take a deep breath, find the little things and smile right now! What are some of your favorite things?
